CREATIVE PROCESS

Photography allows for a very different sense of creativity than the one I achieve from painting. It’s phenomenal to be able to capture a single moment in time and retain all the beauty that the moment is worth. The majority of my photography comes from various holidays and adventures, my time spent on farms, and my travels on country roads between Bathurst, Canberra and Temora. Constantly being surrounded by breathtaking country scenery has led me to be incredibly passionate about the natural Australian land and agriculture, the basis of my photographic creations. I am inspired by natural landscapes, native flora and fauna, and the way native Australia harmonises with agricultural Australia. I often look to capture the aesthetics of the abstract shapes, colours and patterns existent in nature.

Photography is an incredibly important documentation method that is also a drive for my creative process. I love being able to show my older farming relations photos I have taken of the current self-operating machinery and in return hear stories about how they used to ‘make hay with a horse and cart’. There is also a particular beauty in being in the right place at the right time. It’s an opportunity that would never arise if you don’t allow yourself to go in search of the moment. The capture is representational of my gratitude.
