Oak floating frame with wax finish.Impasto acrylic with impasto medium applied with a palette knife on 100% cotton canvas. Finished with two isolation coats and one coat of matte polyurethane varnish.
Created with Australian-made, eco-friendly, zero VOC, and cruelty-free paints, impasto medium, and matte varnish. The canvas is made with FSC-approved sustainably sourced Swedish pine.
Artwork Description
This painting was inspired by my journey through northwest Victoria and southwest NSW. I didn’t focus on a particular scene but instead drew from the vast, barren landscapes and the scattered, rundown windmills and water tanks. Using a palette knife, I applied thick, textured strokes to mimic the rugged textures of the earth. The tactile quality of the impasto style breathes life into the landscape. The colours remind me so much of the outback – rich and earthy. The windmill and water tank are painted to evoke the illusion of a mirage. While the sky reflects the early morning start of my travels, the landscape still feels saturated with warmth. This piece encapsulates the rugged beauty and timeless spirit of the Australian outback.
